We are in the last quarter of 2020. Many of us will be glad to see the end of this year.
In Australia, it started with the devastating bush fires, and then Covid-19 struck.
Some industries have come to a standstill; while others are limping their way back to the new normal.
There are so many memes being pessimistic about the current situation.
What if the current disruption is a turning point for something greater?
· What if this is about a shift in our behaviour?
· What if this is about shifting how we do business?
· What if this about a shift in consciousness?
There is some positive news coming thanks to the disruption, as I shared in the Reframe Blog.
Recently, I came across a book called 'Useful Belief' by Chris Helder.
It's a short and yet fascinating read. Chris has some interesting perspective to share.
By having a useful belief, irrespective of whether it's true or not, allows us to have a navigate any situation in life. So what are these beliefs?
- This is the best time in the history of the world to be in business or job. Whether this is true or not, it doesn't matter. By having this belief, we see opportunities around us.
- This is the greatest time ever to be a parent, and to be a child.
- If any bad experiences are happening, what is the most useful mindset to have?
- You had the parents you were supposed to have. Whether this is true doesn't matter. They will show the positive and what not to do.
- The reality of the situation is terrible. What is the most useful strategy to lift me from ground zero to 1 and then to the next level?
- Everything that happens teaches us something.
Many people in senior management roles will probably acknowledge these beliefs as their own.
When the negative news becomes too much, it's nice to remember your own useful beliefs.
